C.J. (Kees) in 't Veld, graduated from Leyden University Medical School in 1975.
After three years of preparation in the Netherlands he worked for four years as Medical Officer i/c in Ibanda Hospital in Uganda. On return in the Netherlands he started a three year residency in internal medicine in The Hague, Holland.
From 1984 onwards he is General Practitioner in Brielle, a small town of 15.000 inhabitants in the west of the country, 30 minutes drive from Rotterdam.
Besides working as a GP he is currently head of the Department of CME and Quality Improvement in General Practice of the Netherlands College of GPs in Utrecht.
The department is responsible for implementation of the extensive guidelines programme of the College in daily practice.
In order to achieve this implementation staffmembers of the College prepare a wide range of educational methods and materials such as programmes for distance learning, meetings and courses and information on evidence-based practice for patients, such as information leaflets and –letters.
The College tries to incorporate facts and figures about evidence-based implementation, both from national (Centre for Quality of Care Research, WOK) and international research.
Dr. in 't Veld is one of the Dutch delegates to EQuiP, working party on Quality of Wonca.
